Beam Trolley Wheels
Beam Trolley Wheels are a specific type of Single Flange Wheel that is mounted from one side only, and typically suits readily available Parallel Flanged Channel (PFC)
In general, stub axle mounting styles (i.e. fixed from one side only) have a lower load capacity than the same wheel fixed on both sides (such as in a castor frame).
Beam trolley wheels are typically not used for high load applications, but offer a low cost and extremely easy to install method of using track wheels.
Our Beam Trolley Wheel range is made to suit standard PFC (Parallel Flanged Channel) sections. There should always be clearance between the running surface and the top of the channel to avoid jamming. The flange should limit the movement towards the channel and prevent the end of the wheel from contacting the base of the channel.
Beam Trolley Wheels can be used in cantilevered load applications, where the wheels are staggered in the channel. For this application it is critical to calculate the load capacity factoring in the effective load at a distance.
RSJ (Rolled Steel Joist) is another style of channel that is no longer common in Australia, but may still exist in older applications. The channel has a tapered flange, and so the Beam Trolley Wheels typically have a taper on the end of the running width to suit RSJ sections.
Our standard Beam Trolley Wheel is made to be a self-contained wheel, dust and dirt ingress is kept very low without adding significant cost or requiring a larger wheel, in practice these wheels are typically replaced at the end of their lift, and not serviced. As such, they may not be suitable for maring environments, applications where there are chemicals, large amounts of dust, dirt, or other environmental factors present.
