Workbench Wheel Kits
Workbench wheels add mobility to existing workbenches or machinery tables. Once installed, you can rearrange your workshop or garage safely. We provide these in the form of kits, which include 4 non-marking polyurethane castors, mounting plates, fasteners, wrenches, an installation plate and instruction manual. Each kit can lift and reposition a heavy bench or table up to 400kg in total weight.
There are two mounting options in this range: fixed or quick-release. The fixed mounting option attaches the castors to your bench permanently, while the quick-release option allows you to remove the castors when you aren’t using them. Both are great options, and they are supplied with the same high-quality wheels and hardware. The only difference is the type of mounting plate.
Polyurethane wheels are a great choice for workshops, garages or job sites because they are non-marking, free-swivelling and smooth rolling. Like all Richmond castors, they are strong and reliable. The powder-coated black castor frames are constructed from thick steel, making them the best choice for a tough workshop environment. The foot pedals have non-slip ridges on them, giving you the best grip possible when applying pressure to raise your bench. These kits have been designed with durability in mind.
How Do Workbench Wheels Work?
To operate, apply pressure to each foot pedal on each workbench castor individually. This will raise your workbench or machinery table approximately 25.5mm/1” off the ground. Reposition your bench as you like, and then lift each foot pedal upwards to lower your bench back into position and disable movement. If you have installed the quick-release mounting option, you can now lift your castors out of the frame and store them out of the way. If you have installed the fixed mounting option, you can now leave the castors in place for use in future.
How to Put Wheels on a Workbench
We have two options for putting wheels on workbenches; using a plate that attaches the castors to the bench permanently, or using a plate that allows you to remove the castors when they are not in use. The quick-release option can reduce the likelihood of tripping hazards.
Fixed Mounting Workbench Castor Installation Instructions
Step One
To install the plate, mark the holes for drilling with the included “easy-install” template and attach using the wood screws provided. Use the 4 corner holes for the best stability. If your bench leg is less than 75mm wide, use the two centre holes in the mounting plate.
Step Two
Attach the castors by placing the castor bolt through the hole in the plate, and threading on the M12 nut by hand. Tighten using the wrenches provided.
Quick-Release Workbench Castor Installation Instructions
Step One
Mount the quick-release mounting plate to your workbench using the M6x75mm countersunk bolts, nuts and washers provided.
Step Two
Attach the castors by placing the castor bolt through the hole in the plate, and threading on the M12 nut by hand. Tighten using the wrenches provided
Step Three
Slide the completed workbench castor assembly into the quick-release mounting plate. The auto-locking spring will secure the castor in place.
