What is the difference between a tri lip sealed and a shield bearing?
The tri lip seal bearing comes as one rubber piece, with the seal featuring three lips to prevent dirt, dust and water from entering into the bearings. A tri lip seal bearing far superior to a conventional bearing unit, replacing conventional covered bearings and is widely used in most agriculture equipment, reducing the cost of tri lip seal bearings compared to a conventional covered bearing.
A shield bearing has a steel covering that blocks any dirt or foreign materials from entering the bearing. The shield also retains the grease inside the bearing. A shield bearing is a non-contact seal, meaning the shield doesn’t have contact with the inner ring of the bearing therefore reducing rotational force.
